About Us

A tribute to Alfonso Zuniga.

Our name honors the immigrant entrepreneur whose legacy of serving working families inspires everything we do today.

Our name, Zuniga Health, is a tribute to our founder and CEO's grandfather, Alfonso Zuniga, who immigrated to Chicago, Illinois, from Guanajuato, Mexico, in 1925.

Alfonso was an entrepreneur and opened his grocery store, Alfonso's Grocery, in 1929 near the historic Maxwell Street Market — also called "the Ellis Island of the Midwest." For the succeeding 30 years, Alfonso Grocery was a thriving grocery and butcher shop that served the multi-cultural community in Chicago.

Our founder and CEO, Arthur Vera, is proud to continue his grandfather's legacy of serving working families in Illinois and across all 50 states. Zuniga Health is delivering affordable health benefits to a diverse working population.
